What is etiquette? The word etiquette encompasses unwritten codes of behaviour and skills which span enormous range of disciplines such as good manners, morals, decorum, decency, empathy, gratitude and self motivation.

In a nutshell, etiquette is all about understanding and mastering a set of clear and pragmatic guidelines that have evolved to make everyone feel welcome and valued.

Manners make everyday life easier, removing anxiety and minimizing social difficulties or awkwardness. It’s importance have been over emphasized since centuries.

Reliability, punctuality and acknowledging others with respect are the foundation stone of good manner. Consideration for others is shown through language, for instance in greetings and introductions but also physically, for instance standing up when some one enters the room. In Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) use to stand, greet and kiss his daughter, Fatima az Zahra (SAW) whenever she entered his house.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) reminded in other hadith that:
“The most beloved of Allah’s servants to Allah are those with the best manners.” (Al-Bukhari)
